Tell Zack to stay out of Pennsylvania. He'd never be able to deal with the Amish buggies.
Actually, Shaun, those articles are enough alike, particularly at the beginning, that I'd bet that Zack and Scott are buddies, colluding in their articles to provoke some thought. And I even think Zack may be faking his position, playing a little Devil's advocate, fighting fire with fire.
I think the writers colluded as well, because the arguments they provoked were so obvious. As I neared the end of Zack's piece, I was thinking, in response to his "you're not Lance Armstrong", "yeah, and you're not Mario Andretti"--only to read those exact words in Scott's piece.
There's been quite a bit of noise about this in the local bicycling community and at MSU. I think the appearance of collusion may simply be due to the strongly one-sided stance of the first, and ease with which the second was able to counterbalance. My understanding from those who know these boys, is that there was no collusion. But then, isn't that what collusion is all about?
