Spring?

It feels like spring here today. It's 50 degrees F this morning, and by this afternoon it's supposed to reach 58! Of course, the temps are back below freezing and snow is in the forecast for the weekend.

I pulled out the Soma yesterday for a 10-mile lunchtime road ride. If I can bring myself to spend the $40 on the registration fee, I'm going to to enter the Barry-Roubaix Killer Gravel Road Race that's March 26. I'm not sure I will enter, but I'm training towards it. I'm not sure which bike I'll ride if I do it, either the Soma or the Nickel, depending on the weather and whatever else.

Also on the schedule for spring is the Yankee Springs Time Trial. It's a mountain bike race, and will be our first. I'm going to enter myself and both kids. I'm interested in giving it a try to see what it's like. I'm sure I'll win the Men's Sport class for my age group! It will be a tough ride for the kids: it's an 11-mile loop on single track trails that are supposed to be challenging and well-maintained, but at times rather sandy. What does "well-maintained" actually mean in this case? Cindy will probably follow Quinn and Abbey so they won't have to be out there on their own in case they need some help. We'll plan to preview the course a couple weeks before the race.

Today Cindy is doing a 10-mile training run with her running partner, Ckat. Amos is going, too. Although it's cloudy and a little windy, it should be a nice day for it. She has 14 weeks left to train for the Bayshore Marathon, which will be her first.

We're all looking forward to spring.
